Personal data protection bill 2018 (still in draft - now a 2020 version)

Highlights
New Personal Data Protection Bill 2020 - currently in draft status. A BIG improvement on the last draft from 2018 (which didn’t make it into law), much more comprehensive, include more detail on data security, data integrity, breach reporting, data access control, processing sensitive personal data guidelines. Importantly it details the establishment of a new authority called the Personal Data Protection Authority of Pakistan. Must be established within 6 months of the Bill going live. Will consist of 7 members: 3 IT experts, 1 Legal expert, Representative form civil society & financial expert.
