Ethiopia’s Ministry of Communication and Information Technology (MCIT) is planning to replace ‘Woredanet’, the network linking local and regional government offices across the country with each other and the federal government headquarters in Addis Ababa, with a new national backbone infrastructure
Key findings
Current estimated internet gateway capacity of Ethiopia is 50Gbps, and it is expected that the construction of the new infrastructure will see that increase to between 2Tbps and 10Tbps after two years.
