(FIA) disclosed that cybercrime, specifically the harassment and blackmailing of women, had seen a surge during 2018.

Key findings
Its Cybercrime wing has so far conducted 2,295 inquiries, registered 255 cases and have arrested 209 people in 2018, highest since the PECA (Prevention of Electronic Crime Act) was passed in 2016. PK established 15 new cyber crime reporting centres in 2018. Cybercrime director Captain Mohammad Shoaib confirmed the agency only have 10 experts to investigate cyber crimes in the country.
