Law Enforcement & Cyber Defence Capabilities in Kenya
Assessment Commentary

The 2018 Computer Misuse and Cyber Crime Act appears to be a good basis for tackling cybercrime. Whilst cybercrime and banking fraud law-enforcement capabilities exist within the Kenyan National Police's Directorate of Criminal Investigation it has not been possible to identify much in the way of underlying reporting processes nor media reporting of success stories. There appears to be some way to go in building public confidence in the reporting and investigation of cybercrime. There is anecdotal evidence of a CyberFusion unit within the CBK that investigates and helps ensure that cybercrime is prosecutable within the Banking sector. Some evidence of initatives and engagement with young people through the Communications Authority of Kenya.
