Highlights
Senate Standing Committee was told FIA received more than 56,000 complaints of cybercrime in 2019, 11,000 were investigate and only convictions made in 32 cases. IT Ministry had only utilised 17.72% of allocated budget for the fiscal year and only spent 33.51% of the budget for Staff expenditure had been used (informed that because the majority of post in the ministry lie vacant). Ministry advised 29 uplift schemes were planned for promotion of Info Tech and 4 in final stages. Committee directives: IT dept to speed up work on development projects. They expressed concern over slow pace of work and spending of budgets by IT ministry.
